Được bay là ước mơ của toàn nhân loại, đặc biệt là tự bay bằng chính cơ thể mình thay vì ngồi trong một cỗ máy khổng lồ gọi là máy bay. Giải pháp để thực hiện giấc mơ này là bộ phản lực cá nhân (jetpack), được thể hiện dưới rất nhiều hình dạng.
Trong Piloteer, jetpack được gắn sau lưng nhân vật. Nó có tác dụng duy nhất là sinh ra phản lực, còn có thể bay hay không phụ thuộc hoàn toàn vào kỹ năng của người chơi. Bằng cách chạm và giữ trên màn hình, người chơi cố gắng đẩy nhân vật bay đúng hướng, sao cho "hạ cánh" trúng mục tiêu cho trước.
