Như chúng ta đã thấy, Tiếng Anh là công cụ giao tiếp quan trọng trong việc hoà nhập với cộng đồng quốc tế và khu vực, tiếp cận với những thông tin khoa học, kỹ thuật, văn hoá xã hội cũng như các sự kiện chính trị trên toàn thế giới. Kể từ khi Việt nam gia nhập WTO, Tiếng Anh được sử dụng ngày càng rộng rãi hơn. Do vậy việc dạy và học ngoại ngữ nói chung và giảng dạy môn Tiếng Anh nói riêng đã được coi trọng và thực hiện một cách nghiêm túc trong các trường PTTH
Nhận thức được tầm quan trọng đó, chúng tôi những giáo viên dạy Anh văn ở các trường THPT có trách nhiệm trang bị cho các em học sinh vốn kiến thức cơ bản, vững vàng để các em có thể học tốt môn tiếng Anh ở cấp học cao hơn hay có thể giao tiếp những câu thông thường với người nước ngoài. Chúng tôi luôn cố gắng vươn lên về chuyên môn nghiệp vụ, học hỏi kinh nghiệm của các bậc thầy, tham khảo chia sẻ kinh nghiệm với các đồng nghiệp, cũng như tìm tòi sáng tạo những phương pháp giảng dạy có hiệu quả, hấp dẫn học sinh, nhằm không ngừng nâng cao chất lượng các giờ dạy. Về mặt lí luận thì giáo viên phải là người dạy cho các em hiểu đúng, thực hành đúng những kiến thức trong chương trình học thông qua các kĩ năng: Đọc, Nói, Nghe, Viết. Từ đó các em chủ động trong giao tiếp và sử dụng ngôn ngữ theo từng mục đích riêng của mình như: dịch thuật, viết tài liệu, phiên dịch viên, dễ dàng làm việc ở các công ty liên doanh
