Nghề làm hương trầm của người Nùng an ở làng Phja Thắp đã xuất hiện từ lâu đời, không ai biết ai là "tổ làng" đã mang nghề về làng. Đã bao thế hệ sinh sống, cứ đời nọ tiếp nối đời kia, người biết nghề dạy cho người không biết nghề. Vì thế, cả 51 hộ dân trong làng ai cũng làm hương thành thục.
