Được thành lập đầu năm 2003, hợp tác xã sản xuất, chế biến và tiêu thụ nấm ăn xã Đông Hòa, huyện Đông Sơn chuyên sản xuất nấm sò, mục nhĩ, nấm linh chi với quy mô sản xuất mỗi năm 9 tấn nấm ăn các loại trở lên. Hiện tại, sản phẩm nấm của hợp tác xã chủ yếu được tiêu thụ tại thị trường trong tỉnh và thông qua thương lái bán ra một số tỉnh phía Bắc nhưng đáng tiếc là sản phẩm dù được đánh giá là có chất lượng tốt, nhưng vẫn khó cạnh tranh với các sản phẩm cùng loại do chỉ được bao gói một cách thô sơ, không nhãn mác, không thương hiệu khiến người tiêu dùng rất khó nhận diện về sản phẩm. Cũng chính vì không có nhãn mác, thương hiệu, nên dù là sản phẩm sạch, có chất lượng tốt, nấm Đông Hòa vẫn chưa thể vào các kênh phân phối hiện đại trên địa bàn tỉnh. Tại chợ đầu mối rau quả thực phẩm Thanh Hóa, nhiều sản phẩm của Thanh Hóa , từ măng, miến, nấm, mục nhĩ, bánh đa nem đến những mặt hàng nông sản, thực phẩm theo mùa vụ đang được bày bán, không bao gói, không nhãn mác, không thương hiệu
