Với lĩnh vực công nghệ thông tin phát triển mạnh mẽ như hiện nay, phần cứng và phần mềm cũng trở nên hiện đại và hoàn thiện hơn. Do đó việc nhận thức được tầm quan trọng cũng như vai trò của bản đồ địa chính đối với công tác quản lý đất đai của nhà nước nói riêng, của địa phương nói chung là vấn đề bức thiết không thể thiếu. Việc ứng dụng thành quả của công nghệ thông tin vào công tác đo đạc, thành lập bản đồ đã đem lại hiệu quả cao trong công tác quản lý nhà nước về đất đai.
Có thể nói việc nắm bắt được vai trò của bản đồ địa chính trong việc cung cấp thông tin và ứng dụng công nghệ thông tin trong công tác quản lý đất đai nói chung và thành lập bản đồ địa chính nói riêng đã giúp ngành-bộ Tài Nguyên Môi Trường ngày càng nâng cao chất lượng trong hoạt động quản lý đất đai, quản lý tài nguyên môi trường, đáp ứng được yêu cầu quản lý của nhà nước đối với đất đai. Từ đó góp phần thúc đẩy phát triển kinh tế - xã hội, đẩy mạnh công nghiệp hóa, hiện đại hóa đất nước. Để giúp mọi người hiểu rõ hơn về bản đồ địa chính cũng như vai trò của bản đồ địa chính trong việc cung cấp thông tin. Nhóm chúng tôi được sự hướng dẫn của giảng viên Thạc sỹ Nguyễn Ngọc Thy, trưởng Bộ môn Công Nghệ Địa Chính đã thực hiện đề tài “Bản đồ địa chính và vai trò của nó trong việc cung cấp thông tin liên quan tại cấp độ xã, phường”
