Trong tất cả các vị lãnh đạo kinh doanh tại Việt Nam, tôi ấn tượng nhất là bà tư Hường

Từng là người ở, rồi học may, bà Tư Hường giờ là chủ của “đế chế” bất động sản Hoàn Cầu, ngân hàng Nam Á… với tài sản hàng trăm triệu USD.

Sinh năm 1936, đã lên chức bà ngoại từ lâu nhưng nữ doanh nhân người Bình Định Trần Thị Hường (Tư Hường) vẫn làm được những điều khó tin ở tuổi gần 80: điều hành công ty bất động sản, cố vấn HĐQT ngân hàng, sở hữu khối tài sản có giá trị lên tới hàng trăm triệu USD và là chủ của khu resort Diamond Bay. Nữ đại gia U80 còn đình đám với việc đưa cuộc thi Hoa hậu Hoàn vũ về Việt Nam lần đầu tiên và mời được Lady Gaga đến biểu diễn.

Ngay từ đầu những năm 90, bà Tư Hường đã nổi tiếng với 2 thương vụ thu lời hàng chục triệu USD trong ngành kinh doanh đồ uống. Đó là thương vụ bà đầu tư 15 triệu USD để xây dựng Nhà máy bia Vinagel rồi bán lại cho San Miguel giá 25 triệu USD. Sau đó, bà Tư Hường bỏ ra 5 triệu USD để xây dựng nhà máy nước giải khát rồi tiếp tục bán lại cho Lipovital với giá 17 triệu USD.

Vốn không xuất thân từ gia đình kinh doanh, bà Tư Hường từng chia sẻ trong một cuộc phỏng vấn rằng mình lớn lên trong hoàn cảnh gia đình thất bát, từng làm người ở, học may, bán hàng,… Sự nghiệp đến với bà từ đam mê kinh doanh bất động sản, và cũng đi lên nhờ buôn bất động sản. Thực tế, 2 công ty mà bà Hường nắm giữ chức vụ trong HĐQT sau này đều là những doanh nghiệp trong ngành địa ốc.


Năm 1993, bà Hường thành lập công ty TNHH Hoàn Cầu, chuyên hoạt động trong lĩnh vực bất động sản và sản xuất vật liệu xây dựng. Doanh nghiệp này có 10 công ty thành viên, tổng vốn điều lệ (tính đến năm 2010) khoảng gần 6.000 tỷ đồng. Ngoài ra, bà từng giữ chức Phó chủ tịch công ty cổ phần Đầu tư Xây dựng và Khai thác Công trình Giao thông 584 (NTB) và sở hữu hơn 8,3% vốn khi mã này chính thức niêm yết trên sàn TP HCM vào đầu năm 2010. Khi đó, khoản đầu tư của bà Hường có thị giá tương đương hơn 110 tỷ đồng. Tuy nhiên, đến tháng 11/2010, bà Hường xin rút vị trí lãnh đạo tại NTB với lý do cá nhân, đồng thời thoái hơn một nửa vốn khỏi đây.

Sự kiện khiến tên tuổi bà Tư Hường được nhiều người biết đến nhất là trở thành nhà đồng tài trợ cho cuộc thi Hoa hậu Hoàn vũ được tổ chức tại Việt Nam năm 2008. Khi đó, công ty Hoàn Cầu của bà Tư Hường đã cùng với 2 đơn vị khác là Ciat và Việt CEO thành lập nên công ty Hoàn Vũ – đơn vị tổ chức và kêu gọi tài trợ với số vốn cần huy động là khoảng 15 triệu USD.

Khi đó, một điều kiện khó khăn đặt ra cho nước chủ nhà tổ chức Hoa hậu Hoàn vũ là phải có một sân khấu mang tiêu chuẩn quốc tế và đủ sức chứa cho hàng chục ngàn khán giả đến theo dõi cuộc thi. Trong 5 tháng ngắn ngủi vừa thiết kế, vừa thi công – khoảng thời gian được cho là “tốc độ kỷ lục thế giới” – Hoàn Cầu đã hoàn thành Crown Convention Center với hơn 7.500 chỗ ngồi và mức chi phí bỏ ra được đồn đoán lên tới hơn hàng trăm triệu USD.

Ngoài đầu tư vào lĩnh vực bất động sản, bà Hường còn sở hữu lượng cổ phần lớn tại ngân hàng Nam Á. Không phải người điều hành trực tiếp mà chỉ giữ chức vụ cố vấn HĐQT của ngân hàng Nam Á nhưng bà Hường là cổ đông cá nhân lớn thứ ba tại đây với tỷ lệ nắm giữ lên tới 9,5% vốn. Tính đến năm 2011, 5 thành viên trong gia đình bà Hường sở hữu tới 20% vốn của ngân hàng Nam Á, tương đương khoảng 600 tỷ đồng.
