Thép 2311 được ứng dụng để làm khuôn ép phun, khuôn thổi, khuôn định hình, khuôn ép nén Melamine, làm chi tiết máy, trục, khuôn đúc áp lực cho hợp kim thiếc, chì, kẽm.
Thép 2311 đã được tôi và ram sẵn khi cung cấp nhưng cũng có thể nhiệt luyện hoặc thấm than để đạt độ cứng cao đến 51 HRC.
