Mới đây Microsoft công bố sẽ mở hai trung tâm dữ liệu tại Đức, với mục đích chính là để tránh những yêu cầu theo dõi và cung cấp thông tin của chính phủ Mỹ. Hai trung tâm này sẽ được vận hành bởi T-Systems, một công ty con của nhà mạng Deutsche Telekom. Cả hai công ty sẽ cùng đóng góp vốn để xây dựng trụ sở này, và T-Systems sẽ là đơn vị sở hữu tòa nhà. Microsoft cho biết chính nhân viên của hãng cũng sẽ không được phép truy cập vào dữ liệu tại đây nếu không được T-Systems cho phép.
