Căn phòng đầu tiên chúng ta tham quan có tên gọi “Những sự thật lịch sử” sẽ khái quát về lịch sử Việt Nam 1945- 1975:
Mở đầu sẽ là hình ảnh chủ tịch HCM đọc Bản tuyên ngôn độc lập vào ngày 2/9/1945 tại Quảng trường Ba Đình, khai sinh ra nước Việt Nam dân chủ cộng hòa. (trong tủ kính là Bản tuyên ngôn độc lập).
Những hình ảnh trên đây cho thấy sự đồng tình của toàn thể dân tộc Việt Nam đối với Chính phủ nước VNDCCH và đối với Chủ tịch HCM.
1945, Bác Hồ đã đọc Bản tuyên ngôn độc lập, tuy nhiên nền hòa bình, độc lập chưa được bao lâu thì Pháp âm mưu quay trở lại xâm lược Việt Nam một lần nữa.
23/11/1946, Pháp sử dụng tàu chiến đánh chiếm Hải Phòng và mở rộng cuộc chiến tranh ra Bắc Bộ. Trước tình hính đó, đêm 19/12/1946, chủ tịch HCM ra lời kêu gọi toàn quốc kháng chiến. Hưởng ứng lời kêu gọi đó, ngay sáng ngày hôm sau, các biểu ngữ “độc lập hay là chết” xuất hiện khắp các phố phường Hà Nội.
Hưởng ứng lời kêu gọi của Chủ tịch HCM, cả nước đứng lên kháng chiến. Ở Hà Nội, những hình ảnh người chiến sĩ quyết tử với bom ba càng sẵn sáng tiêu diệt xe tăng của Pháp. Còn ở Nam Bộ thì đó là hình ảnh của những thanh niên xung phong nao nức tham gia kháng chiến. Với tinh thần đó, Pháp thất bại nặng nề trong chiến dịch Biên giới 9/1950.

Trước nguy cơ Pháp ngày càng lấn sâu vào cuộc chiến tranh xâm lược Việt Nam thì Mỹ quyết định viện trợ cho Pháp cả về tài chính và vũ khí. Theo như lời phát biểu của tổng thống Mỹ ( ) vào 1953 thì ông đã phát biểu rằng: “…”. Đó là lý do vì sao Mỹ quyết định viện trợ 400 đô la cho Pháp. Đó không phải là 1 món quà biếu không.
