• Ngã ba Đồng Lộc là di tích lịch sử gắn liền với việc 10 nữ thanh niên xung phong trong chiến tranh Việt Nam bị bom của Không lực Hoa Kỳ giết chết.
• Ngã ba Đồng Lộc thuộc xã Đồng Lộc, huyện Can Lộc, tỉnh Hà Tĩnh, nằm trên con đường mòn Hồ Chí Minh xuyên qua dãy Trường Sơn ở tỉnh Hà Tĩnh, là giao điểm của quốc lộ 15A và tỉnh lộ 2 của Hà Tĩnh, thuộc địa phận xã Đồng Lộc, huyện Can Lộc.
• Đây là một trong những điểm giao thông quan trọng trong chiến tranh, cho nên quân đội Hoa Kỳ đã tập trung nhiều máy bay thả bom nhằm cắt đứt đường tiếp tế của người dân miền Bắc cho chiến trường miền Nam.
• Tất cả mọi con đường từ Bắc vào Nam đều phải vượt qua ngã ba Đồng Lộc. Ngã ba Đồng Lộc được coi như cổ họng, vượt qua được sẽ phân tán toả ra nhiều tuyến đường khác nhau đi vào nam. Ngã ba Đồng Lộc là trọng điểm có tầm quan trọng chiến lược nên trong chiến tranh phá hoại kẻ địch âm mưu ném bom huỷ diệt nhằm chặn đứt sự chi viện sức người, sức của, vũ khí, súng đạn, lương thực... của hậu phương lớn miền Bắc xã hội chủ nghĩa đối với tiền tuyến lớn miền Nam. Chỉ tính riêng 240 ngày đêm từ tháng 3 đến tháng 10/1968 không quân địch đã trút xuống đây 48.600 quả bom các loại.
• Hồi 17h ngày 24/7/1968 tiểu đội 4 thanh niên xung phong được lệnh trọng điểm ở khu vực địch vừa thả bom để san lập hố bom sửa chữa đường, kết hợp sửa chữa hầm trú ẩn khơi sâu rãnh thoát nước ở đoạn đường độc đạo để nhanh chóng thông đường cho xe qua. Tiểu đội 4 hôm ấy có 10 cô gái trẻ: Võ thị Tần, Hồ Thị Cúc, Võ Thị Hợi, Nguyễn Thị Xuân , Dương Thị Xuân, Trần Thị Rạng, Hà Thị Xanh, Nguyễn Thị Nhỏ, Võ Thị Hạ, Trần Thị Hường. Tuổi đời nọ còn rất trẻ, từ 17 đến 24.
• Nhận nhiệm vụ xong, các cô đến tại hiện trường gấp rút triển khai công việc với cả niềm vui được gửi gắm trên từng chiếc xe qua nên các cô không hề sợ hãi. Họ làm việc không ngơi tay, vừa cười, vừa nói với nhau. Bỗng một tốp máy bay phản lực từ hướng Bắc vào Nam vượt qua trọng điểm. Tất cả các cô nhanh chóng nằm rạp xuống đường. Hết tiếng máy bay các cô lại chồm dậy làm việc. Bất ngờ tốp máy bay phản lực quay lại bay từ trong ra thả một loạt bom rơi đúng vào đội hình 10 cô gái. Các tiểu đội thanh niên xung phong đi sau chồm lên gào thét, nhân dân xóm Bãi Dĩa quanh đấy cũng lao ra gọi tên từng người. Khi đến nơi quả bom vừa nổ chỉ thấy một hố bom sâu hoắm, một vài chiếc xẻng, cuốc vǎng ra nhưng không còn thấy một ai, không nghe thấy một tiếng người. Cả 10 cô gái trẻ ấy đã hy sinh.
• Để ghi sâu tội ác và ghi lại chiến tích của 10 cô gái tại trọng điểm lịch sử này Quốc hội và Chính phủ nước Cộng hoà xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam đã truy tặng danh hiệu anh hùng cho 10 cô gái hy sinh tại ngã ba Đồng Lộc.
