Một số ít người cho rằng việc động vật phải có nhân quyền là không cần thiết bởi vì việc sử dụng động vật đem lại lợi ích cũng như các nhu cầu cần thiết cho con người trong thời buổi hiện nay. Thí nghiệm trên khỉ hay chuột bạch cho mục đích y học đem lại lợi ích to lớn khi các nhà khoa học có thể tìm ra cách để chữa những căn bệnh ung thư không có thuốc chữa hay cách có thể kéo dài tuổi thọ. Và nếu không thí nghiệm trên động vật thì không lẽ lại thí nghiệm lên con người.
