Nếu to < tGP thì BV cần phải tránh dòng không cân bằng ứng với NM ba pha ở đầu đoạn tiếp sau. Vì BV tác động với thời gian 0,5s và lớn hơn nên chỉ cần tránh giá trị ổn định của dòng KCB lớn nhất. Theo kinh nghiệm vận hành, nếu các MBI được chọn đúng và phụ tải của chúng đều nhau, ta có thể chọn IkđR = 2 ÷ 4A, tùy thuộc vào bội số của dòng điện NM (40 ÷ 80% IđmBI).
