Sau khi gia nhập WTO, chính sách mở cửa của Chính phủ đã tạo ra một luồng sinh khí mới làm thay đổi bộ mặt kinh tế đất nước. Việt Nam trở thành đối tác quen thuộc với nhiều thị trường lớn như: ASEAN, EU, Nhật Bản, Mỹ…Kim ngạch hàng năm tăng trưởng đáng kể kéo theo đó hoạt động thanh toán quốc tế ngày càng được mở rộng.
