TÌNH HÌNH KINH TẾ - XÃ HỘI KHU VỰC NGHIÊN CỨU
II.1. DÂN SỐ :
Huyện Suông có diện tích tự nhiên là 1.628,14 Km², dân số khoảng 16 ngàn người trong đó người Kinh chiếm khoảng 2 ngàn người , dân tộc Chăm chiếm 5 ngàn người còn lại là một số dân tộc khác. Các xã vùng sâu vùng xa của huyện Huyện Suông hiện nay đời sống vật chất tinh thần của nhân dân còn gặp nhiều khó khăn đặc biệt là các dân tộc thiểu số, trình độ văn hoá thấp, các tập quán và hủ tục lạc hậu vẫn duy trì.

- Tuyến đường đi qua 10 xã , dân cư chủ yếu là người đồng bào dân tộc ít người.
II.2. TÌNH HÌNH KINH TẾ - XÃ HỘI VÙNG DỰ ÁN :
Kinh tế Huyện Suông đã và đang phát triển, hòa nhập theo cơ chế thị trường. Trong cơ cấu sản xuất nông nghiệp bước đầu đã có sự chuyển dịch theo hướng sản xuất hàng hóa gắn với thị trường, hiệu quả kinh tế và tỷ trọng giữa các ngành công nông, lâm nghiệp đã có xu hướng ổn định, dịch vụ và công nghiệp đã dần tăng lên.

- Về nông nghiệp : Ngành nông nghiệp Huyện Suông có tốc độ phát triển nhanh, từ sản xuất tự cấp tự túc, hàng năm không đủ ăn phải nhờ viện trợ từ Trung Ương, đến nay ngành nông nghiệp đã thay đổi cơ cấu rõ rệt bước đầu đã có tích lũy, tỷ trọng về tổng sản lượng cây công nghiệp dài ngày cao hơn nhiều so với cây ngắn ngày, tỷ lệ đàn gia súc tăng lên rõ rệt, trong đó đáng quan tâm là đàn đại gia súc như Bò, Dê... Tuy nhiên trong những năm gần đây nạn hạn hán và đại dịch diễn biến phức tạp đã ảnh hưởng lớn đến ngành nông nghiệp.

- Về lâm nghiệp : Trong những năm gần đây ngành lâm nghiệp huyện Krông Pa đã triển khai thực hiện chủ trương chính sách của Đảng và nhà nước. Tổ chức cơ cấu sản xuất theo nghị định của chính phủ. Tuy nhiên quá trình tổ chức thực hiện việc quản lý và bảo vệ rừng còn gặp nhiều khó khăn, nạn đốt nương làm rẫy giảm chậm, lực lượng kiểm lâm mỏng, phương tiện hạn chế, đường vận xuất, đường bảo vệ chưa đầu tư đúng mức, hơn nữa trình độ dân trí thấp, đây là một trong những cản trở lớn trong việc xã hội hóa nghề rừng và công tác bảo vệ rừng.

- Về công nghiệp và tiểu thủ công nghiệp : Tốc độ phát triển tăng nhưng công nghiệp và tiểu thủ công nghiệp còn nhỏ bé, chủ yếu tập trung ở một số ngành sản xuất như: Xay xát lương thực, nghề mộc dân dụng, chế biến lâm sản ....

- Về thương mại dịch vụ : Ngành thương mại dịch vụ phát triển còn quá chậm chạp chủ yếu là do tư nhân và tiểu thương chiếm lĩnh thị trường. Thương nghiệp quốc doanh yếu không có khả năng cạnh tranh thị trường.

- Về du lịch: Những tài nguyên du lịch của huyện đang ở dạng nguyên khai chưa được đầu tư khai thác, do nằm xa các trung tâm đô thị điều kiện tiếp cận khó khăn, nguồn vốn đầu tư còn nhiều hạn chế nên ngành du lịch chưa phát triển.

- Về y tế : Còn rất nghèo nàn và lạc hậu.

- Về văn hoá giáo dục : Trong những năm qua toàn huyện đạt được nhiều thành tựu về giáo dục, tính đến cuối năm 2014 có 135 lớp mẫu giáo, 36 trường/606 lớp học phổ thông.

- Về văn hóa- thể thao: Các hoạt động văn hóa đi vào nề nếp, phong trào thể dục thể thao khá sôi nổi. Nhìn chung các hoạt động văn hóa thể thao thường xuyên đạt kết quả tốt.
