Thông tin về việc thanh, kiểm tra lượng thuốc đang lưu thông trên thị trường, đại diện của Cục Quản lý Dược- Bộ Y tế cho biết: hàng năm, hệ thống các trung tâm kiểm nghiệm thuốc trong cả nước lấy 30.000-40.000 mẫu thuốc trên thị trường để giám sát chất lượng. Qua kiểm tra, cơ quan chức năng đã phát hiện và xử lý bằng hình thức thu hồi, đình chỉ lưu hành nhiều loại thuốc giả, thuốc kém chất lượng. Tỷ lệ thuốc kém chất lượng ở Việt Nam hiện dao động ở mức khoảng 3% và thuốc giả khoảng 0,1%. Thuốc giả bị phát hiện chủ yếu chuyên dùng điều trị sốt rét, gần đây phát hiện ở cả thuốc bổ, thuốc điều trị tim mạch, giảm đau, điều trị bệnh viêm da, kháng sinh...
