Từ thế kỉ thứ 4, khi Đế quốc La Mã đã suy yếu, thành phố đã trải qua các cuộc chiến tranh với người Thổ Nhĩ Kì , người Arap. Sau đó, từ thế kỉ thứ 7, thành phố hoàn toàn rơi vào quên lãng.
Ngày nay, toàn bộ hệ thống thành La Mã được xác định là nhờ các kết quả nghiên cứu và khai quật của các nhà nghiên cứu văn hóa và khảo cổ học của Pháp.
