Nhạc Blues
Cùng với nhạc Jazz, nhạc Blues có nguồn gốc từ những bài ca lao động, tôn giáo và dân ca của người Mỹ da đen được người Mỹ da đen khởi xướng vào đầu thế kỷ 20. Nhạc Blues khá buồn, vì thế nên có tên Blues (buồn) Nhạc Jazz thường được biểu diễn bằng kèn, giai điệu réo rắt. Khởi nguồn của Blues không đơn giản một cách chắc chắn như là đã được khắc lên đá. Trong một vài năm, đã có rất nhiều chuẩn mực về giai điệu, cách hòa âm được thiết lập, và những chuẩn mực này đã và vẫn đang được biểu diễn rộng rãi.
