Vụ việc thứ nhất: Bà DTNH cư trú tại Việt Nam và ông DTH cư trú tại Canada kết hôn theo quy định của pháp luật Việt Nam vào năm 2006. Sau khi kết hôn bà DTNH vẫn ở tại Việt Nam còn ông DTH sinh sống tại Canada. Sau đó ông DTH xin ly hôn với bà DTNH tại Canada. Ngày 07/08/2008 Tòa án tối cao British Columbia, Canada cho ông DTH được ly hôn với bà DTNH theo bản án ly hôn số E080672. Về con chung và tài sản chung không có. Ngày 21/9/2009, bà DTNH có đơn yêu cầu Bộ Tư pháp công nhận và cho thi hành tại Việt Nam bản án nêu trên. Đơn và các tài liệu kèm theo của bà DTNH được chuyển đến Tòa án có thẩm quyền của Việt Nam để giải quyết
