Theo số liệu của Tổng cục thống kê , trong cả năm 2010, chỉ số giá tiêu dùng tăng 11,75% so với tháng 12 năm 2009, con số này tuy không quá bất ngờ nhưng vẫn vượt so với chỉ tiêu được Quốc hội đề ra đầu năm gần 5%.
Tính chung trong cả năm 2010, giáo dục là nhóm tăng mạnh nhất trong rổ hàng hóa tính CPI (gần 20%).Tiếp đó là hàng ăn(16,18%) và nhà ở-vật liệu xây dựng (15.74%).Bưu chính viễn thông là nhóm duy nhất giảm giá với mức gần 6% trong năm 2010
