Liên minh HTX tỉnh Trà Vinh được thành lập vào năm 1993 là tổ chức kinh tế - xã hội, hoạt động theo Luật Hợp tác xã và các quy định của pháp luật Việt Nam. Hiện tại, Liên minh HTX có 75 thành viên (75/87 HTX đang hoạt động của tỉnh). Dự định năm nay sẽ kết nạp số HTX mới thành lập còn lại. Các thành viên HTX (chủ yếu là quy mô vừa, nhỏ và siêu nhỏ) kinh doanh trong nhiều lĩnh vực: nông nghiệp, tiểu thủ công nghiệp, giao thông vận tải, thương mại, dịch vụ, điện, tín dụng,…
Trong hoạt động đào tạo, Liên minh đã tổ chức các lớp tập huấn, bồi dưỡng về nghiệp vụ tín dụng (44 học viên tham dự) cho các Quỹ tín dụng cơ sở trên địa bàn và về kiến thức kinh tế hợp tác trên địa bàn các huyện, thành phố và các xã. Bên cạnh đó, Liên minh HTX đã hỗ trợ, tư vấn cho các HTX về quy trình tổ chức đại hội thường niên, đại hội nhiệm kỳ đúng theo điều lệ HTX quy định và hướng dẫn các HTX chuyển đổi hoạt động theo luật HTX năm 2012, tư vấn chính sách thuế, đặc biệt các chính sách hỗ trợ miễn, giảm thuế cho một số thành viên của Liên minh, và hỗ trợ cán bộ một số huyện tham quan và học tập kinh nghiệm nuôi trồng tại các tỉnh trong vùng ĐBSCL và trong tỉnh.Về hỗ trợ vốn cho các HTX thành viên, Liên minh đã tư vấn hỗ trợ về thủ tục cho các HTX thành lập mới nhận được hỗ trợ nguồn kinh phí thành lập mới theo quyết định 12-QĐ/UBND của UBND tỉnh. Đồng thời, Liên minh đã phối hợp với Ngân hàng chính sách xã hội Tỉnh phân bổ nguồn vốn vay Quỹ quốc gia giải quyết việc làm đến một số HXT để mở rộng sản xuất kinh doanh. Về xúc tiến thương mại, Liên Minh đã tổ chức một số đoàn cán bộ và các HTX đi xúc tiến thương mại tại TP. HCM, làm cầu nối tiêu thụ các mặt hàng nông sản.
