Trong thời gian tới, MRTV có kế hoạch chuyển đổi từ công nghệ Analog sang truyền hình kỹ thuật số theo chuẩn DVB – T2, dự kiến kế hoạch xây dựng và chuyển đổi trên toàn quốc hoàn thành vào năm 2020 nhưng trước mắt thí điểm tại 3 thành phố lớn: Yangon, Naypyitaw và Sagaing.
