Khi còn là một đứa trẻ, tôi mơ thành một nhà văn, bởi vì tôi rất kém toán. Lúc rảnh rỗi, tôi thích đọc tiểu thuyết. Thành thực thì tôi đọc mọi thứ mình có thể tìm thấy. Tôi không bao giờ nghĩ mình sẽ theo đuổi toán học cho tới 2 năm cuối trung học.
Chị gái là người đầu tiên khiến tôi quan tâm tới toán. Ký ức đầu tiên của tôi về toán học có lẽ là khi anh nói về bài toán đố yêu cầu cộng lần lượt từ 1 tới 100. Lời giải đã khiến tôi rất hứng thú. Đó là lần đầu tiên tôi rất thích trước một lời giải toán thú vị, dù tôi không tìm ra nó.
