Độc quyền là một hậu quả khác của hoạt động M&A giữa các doanh nghiệp nếu như không có sự quản lý chặt chẽ từ phía cơ quan quản lý thị trường. Thị trường mua lại và sáp nhập doanh nghiệp ở Việt Nam đang hoạt động trong tình trạng đó, thiếu khung hành lang pháp lý cho sự vận hành của thị trường, hay nói cách khác đó là tình trạng thiếu sự quản lý của cơ quan có thẩm quyền đối với hoạt động M&A. Do đó, vấn đề độc quyền trên thị trường của một số ít doanh nghiệp đến từ hoạt động M&A tiềm ẩn rất nhiều khả năng đe dọa đến nền kinh tế trong nước nếu không có sự nhìn nhận và kiềm chế kịp thời ngay từ thời điểm hiện tại.
