Nhận thức rõ vai trò to lớn của DLXH, các thể chế chính trị, các nhà nước, các đảng chính trị rất quan tâm nghiên cứu DLXH và lấy đó là một trong những căn cứ để hoạch định quyết sách lãnh đạo, quản lý xã hội. Người ta không chỉ nghiên cứu DLXH về mặt lý thuyết mà còn nghiên cứu ứng dụng về DLXH, đồng thời, xây dựng các điều kiện, tạo lập các cơ chế để sử dụng kết quả nghiên cứu trong hoạt động của các cơ quan lãnh đạo, quản lý.
