Tuabin gió ngày nay đã nhỏ gọn và đẹp hơn nhiều so với trước đây. Hình ảnh tuabin gió đã dần trở nên quen thuộc trên thế giới, từ những tuabin kích cỡ nhỏ (1KW) cho tới các công trình lớn lên đến vào megawatt (MW).

Các tuabin gió hiện đại ngày nay có khả năng sản xuất ra một lượng điện năng tất lớn. Một máy có kích thước phổ biến tại Mỹ có thể đạt công suất 2MW và có chiều cao tương đương 1 tòa nhà 30 tầng và có giá lên tới 3,5 triệu USD. Với một nguồn năng lợng gió tốt, tuabin này có thể sản xuất ra 6 triệu kWh, có thể phục vụ cho 600 hộ/năm. Một con số ấn tượng!

Ở Việt Nam, dự án điện gió tại Bình Thuận cũng đạt được nhiều dấu hiệu khả quan. Tổng công suất của dự án này là 1.370 MW. Tuy chưa chiếm tỷ lệ cao nhưng đây là một bước phát triển trong ngành công nghiệp điện của Việt Nam.
