Mỗi năm Việt Nam có trên một triệu học sinh cấp 3 thi vào Đại Học và khoảng 15% đỗ. Những em không vào được đại học bước chân vào đời rất kém về nghề chuyên môn, phong cách con người và khả năng giao tiếp, và gây nên nhiều khó khăn cho nền kinh tế. Nếu Việt Nam muốn có một nền giáo dục cấp tiểu học đến cấp THPT đa dạng thì nên tham khảo một số phương cách từ Hoa Kỳ :
+ Chương trình cấp 1-2 của Hoa Kỳ cũng bao gồm kiến thức tổng quát ở trình độ thiếu nhi. Lớp học có chừng 20 - 30 học sinh do đó thầy cô biết rõ từng em một và khuyến khích tự suy nghĩ, chất vấn, phát biểu ý kiến dù đúng hay sai, thuyết trình, và tham gia vào nhiều hoạt động nhóm để phát huy phong cách con người và khả năng giao tiếp từ lúc bé.
+ Chương trình cấp 3 của Hoa Kỳ theo hệ thống tín chỉ, có nhiều môn tự chọn ( 30% của chương trình ), và cho học sinh rất nhiều lựa chọn như khi nào sẽ học một môn, môn nào hợp sở thích và khả năng, trình độ nào ( học ra làm công nhân, học để vào trường đại học tiểu bang, hay học để có thể được nhận vào Harvard), những môn nào hợp một chuyên ngành ở Đại Học, thậm chí có thể kéo dài hay rút ngắn thời gian ra trường. Chương trình học đầy linh động này thích ứng được với sự khác biệt về thông minh, tài chánh, sự trưởng thành về tâm sinh lý, hoàn cảnh gia đình của mỗi học sinh, và từ đó phát huy được sự đam mê học và khả năng sáng tạo.
+ Học sinh Mỹ được khuyến khích tham khảo, chất vấn, thảo luận và phát biểu những gì mình thích hay bức xúc mà không bị chính quyền, nhà trường hay thầy cô cấm đoán. Trường thường có nhiều hoạt động nhóm do học sinh làm chủ như hiệp hội trong và liên trường. Học sinh tự chọn lãnh đạo của hiệp hội qua tranh cử, và thực tập khả năng giao tiếp và lãnh đạo ở tuổi thiếu niên.
