5. Cấp độ 5: người đạt cấp độ này (chuyên viên phiên dịch hội nghị - SENIOR CONFERENCE INTERPRETER) phải thể hiện được tính chuyên nghiệp cao, có kinh nghiệm đa dạng, có khả năng giám sát & tổ chức công việc dịch thuật cho cả 1 đội phiên dịch.
Từ cấp độ 2 trở lên mới được coi là mang tính chuyên nghiệp. Sự khác nhau cơ bản là về kỹ năng dịch.
Người phiên dịch trước khi ra làm việc cần được đào tạo và dự thi theo từng cấp độ để được công nhận trình độ bằng 1 chứng chỉ nghiệp vụ được cấp có giá trị dài hạn và được gọi là CERTIFICATE OF ACCREDITATION. Còn người đạt cấp độ 1 được cấp loại chứng nhận Language Aide thay cho chứng chỉ nghiệp vụ.

3. Chứng chỉ cấp độ 4:
3.1. Quy định (Accreditation):
Bài thi cấp độ 4 luôn là bài thi dịch 1 chiều (1 way accreditation). Thí sinh muốn có chứng chỉ 2 chiều (2-way accreditation) phải dự thi 1 cuộc thi tương tự theo chiều dịch ngược lại.

3.2. Điều kiện dự thi: Pre-requisites
Thí sinh phải có 1 bằng Đại học bất cứ về ngành gì, phải có giấy chứng nhận của cơ quan đã làm phiên dịch ở cấp độ 3 ít nhất 2 năm liên tục. Những người hành nghề tư nhân phải có tờ trình về hoạt động nghiệp vụ của mình.

3.3. Bài thi (Interpreting test)
Thí sinh phải dịch 3 bài nói chuyện:
- 2 bài dịch song song (1 bài có văn bản, 1 bài không có văn bản – one seen, one unseen
- 1 bài dịch đuổi
Mỗi bài khoảng 1500 từ. Các bài thi đều là cuộc dịch trực tiếp (be conducted live) nhưng có ghi âm để đánh giá.
Thí sinh sẽ được thông báo trước 1 tuần về chủ đề của bài dịch không có văn bản và được giao văn bản của bài dịch có văn bản 24 giờ trước khi thi. Tốc độ nói là tốc độ bình thường (normal speech).

Yêu cầu của 3 bài thi:
- Phiên dịch ở trình độ này phải có 1 chất lượng cao, không được mắc những lỗi làm ảnh hưởng đến quy trình giao tiếp.
- Lời dịch phải thể hiện được đầy đủ nội dung, văn phong, giọng nói của văn bản ngôn ngữ nguồn; phải trôi chảy, lối diễn đạt phải gần với bản ngữ và không có lỗi ngữ pháp.

4. Chứng chỉ cấp độ 5:
Để có được chứng chỉ cấp độ 5 là cấp độ cao nhất trong nghề dịch, người phiên dịch phải:
a. Đạt mọi yêu cầu của cấp độ 4
b. Dự thi 1 cuộc thi phối hợp dịch các ngôn ngữ
