Tháng 1/1967, người Mỹ mở trận càn lớn lấy tên Cédar Falls. Trận càn này được xem là một trong những chiến dịch mặt đất lớn nhất của Mỹ trong chiến tranh Việt Nam. Trong trận càn này, Mỹ đặt các mục tiêu “bóc vỏ trái đất”, “tát nước - bắt cá” và “tìm diệt”. Với quyết tâm san bằng tất cả mọi địa hình, Mỹ đã sử dụng đồng thời nhiều binh đoàn không quân, bộ binh, xe tăng, xe ủi đất hạng nặng… thậm chí dùng cả các đội “lính chuột chũi” và chó săn để tìm diệt du kích trong địa đạo.

May 1/1967, the Americans opened big raid named Cedar Falls. This raid is considered one of the largest campaigns of US ground war in Vietnam. During this raid, the US set the goal of "peeled the earth", "slapping the water - fishing" and "search and destroy". Determined to flatten all terrain, the US has used multiple army air force, infantry, tanks and heavy bulldozers ... even with both teams "soldiers mole" and hounds to hunting down guerrillas in tunnels.
