Dựa trên các kịch bản biến đổi khí hậu của IPCC,tài liệu nghiên cứu của các bộ nghành liên quan cả trong và ngoài nước, Bộ Tài nuyên và Môi trường đã đưa ra kịch bản biến đổi khí hậu và nước biển dâng cho Việt Nam nhằm cung cấp những thông tin mới nhất về những biểu hiện, xu thế biến đổi của khí hậu và nước biển dâng trong quá khứ và kịch bản biến đổi khí hậu và nước biển dâng trong thế kỷ 21, đặc biệt là hiện tượng xâm ngập mặt do biến đổi khí hậu tại 9 hệ thống lớn của Việt Nam.
