Khủng hoản tài chính tại nhiều nước trên thế giới với việc sát nhập hoặc phá sản của hang loạt các tôt chức tài chính tên tuổi đã khởi đầu cho thời kì suy thoái của thế giới. Giá dầu thô và giá nhiều loại nguyên liệu, hàng hoá khác trên thị trường thế giới tăng mạnh trong những tháng giữa năm kéo theo sự tăng giá ở mức cao của hầu hết các mặt hàng trong nước, lạm phát xảy ra tại nhiều nước trên thế giới; và nó là nguyên nhân lớn dẫn đến sự khủng hoảng tài chính toàn cầu, một số nền kinh tế lớn suy thoái và kinh tế thế giới chấn động không ngừng.
