Một thống kê gần đây cho thấy, có tới hơn 60% doanh nghiệp và tổ chức tại Việt Nam tham dự ISO chỉ là “hình thức”. Nguyên nhân là vì nhiều tổ chức, doanh nghiệp, đặc biệt là đội ngũ lãnh đạo chưa nhận thức một cách đầy đủ và toàn diện về những lợi ích mà ISO mang lại cũng như tầm quan trọng của quản lý chất lượng và quản lý chất lượng sản phẩm. Họ mong muốn có được giấy chứng nhận để hoạt động kinh doanh của tổ chức được dễ dàng và thuận lợi hơn, chứ thực sự chưa coi việc áp dụng ISO là một điều kiện để đổi mới và phát triển.
Nâng cao nhận thức về ISO và quản lý chất lượng sẽ giúp doanh nghiệp tăng hiệu quả hoạt động, đặc biệt là công tác quản lý chất lượng sản phẩm. Thực tế cho thấy, mặc dù công ty đã rất chú trọng đến vấn đề quản lý chất lượng nhưng không phải toàn bộ cán bộ công nhân viên trong Công ty đều nhận thức được tầm quan trọng của vấn đề này, đồng thời cũng chưa thấy hết được lợi ích của việc áp dụng ISO
