Nghiên cứu, thu thập các tài liệu có liên quan từ mạng internet và tìm hiểu trên các sản phẩm thực tế. Từ đó đưa ra các phương án thiết kế cơ khí cho máy quét. Cùng các thành viên khác chọn ra cơ cấu tối ưu nhất. Sau đó tìm kiếm và thu thập các chi tiết cơ cấu cần thiết, rồi tiến hành xây dựng hoàn chỉnh kết cấu cơ khí cho chiếc máy quét.
Nghiên cứu thuật toán và xử lý giữ liệu sau khi thu được thông tin ảnh từ vật thể quét, sau đó xây dựng ma trận tọa độ điểm ảnh và mô hình hóa chúng lên phần mềm 3D. Nghiên cứu các phương pháp làm giảm nhiễu, tăng số điểm quét trên một lần quét, giảm nhiễu tín hiệu bởi ảnh hưởng từ môi trường bên ngoài
