Amber chia sẻ rằng cô có thời gian làm giáo viên tiếng Anh tại một ngôi làng của Việt Nam, người dân tại đó thường uống bia buổi tối. Vợ chồng cô đã được họ đón tiếp nồng nhiệt vào ngày đầu tiên bằng một chầu bia. Khi vào quán, nhân viên sẽ mang tới một két bia chai kèm cốc và một xô đá nhỏ. Những chiếc cốc cứ vơi lại đầy suốt bữa nhậu, các cô gái trẻ nhất trên bàn sẽ có nhiệm vụ rót bia. Amber thích kiểu uống bia thêm đá lạnh như vậy, bật mí thêm rằng mọi người nên cho đá đầy cốc để không say nhanh vì phải cạn ly nhiều lần.
Văn hóa bia hơi tại Việt Nam phần nhiều nằm ở truyền thống chúc tụng. Khi mọi người cùng bàn nâng cốc, luôn có một lý do như "mừng lượt uống mới", "nhân lúc món mới lên mâm", hay "chúc mừng bạn bè",... Theo Amber, đôi khi người ta cũng chạm cốc riêng trong nhóm nhỏ từ hai đến ba người, rồi họ sẽ bắt tay nhau. Mỗi lần chạm cốc, mọi người phải uống cạn bia, họ hay nói "trăm phần trăm". Amber có thể uống nửa cốc vì cô là phụ nữ, trong khi anh chồng Eric luôn phải cạn ly. Theo truyền thống, nếu có ai đó đến mời Amber một cốc, lát sau cô sẽ tới chạm cốc "đáp lễ" với họ. Mọi người trong bàn tiệc đều phải uống và nâng cốc, tất cả sẽ rất vui.

"Một buổi tối đẹp trời, có thể bạn sẽ nhớ ra mình đã uống khoảng 20 đến 30 cốc bia trong 2 tiếng, vì vậy hãy nhớ thêm thật nhiều đá. Nhìn đồng hồ hôm đó, tôi sững sờ vì lúc đó chưa tới 19h30 mà tôi đã hơi chuếnh choáng. Vợ chồng tôi chỉ mới rời khách sạn một tiếng trước", Amber hồi tưởng.
