3.1. Khái quát sơ lược địa bàn phường Hiệp Phú
Phường Hiệp Phú thuộc Quận 9, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, có diện tích 218,1 ha,dân số vào khỏang 21.936 người với 5.548 hộ dân, được tổ chức thành 6 khu phố và 79 tổ dân phố. Người dân trong phường chủ yếu là người Kinh và một số ít dân tộc khác như người Việt gốc Khơ me. Người dân theo đạo trong phường chiếm 10% dân số như: công giáo, phật giáo, tin lành. P.Hiệp Phú là nơi đặt trụ sở nhiều cơ quan hành chính quan trọng Quận 9 như: Ủy ban Nhân dân và Hội đồng Nhân dân.
• Phía Đông: giáp phường Tăng Nhơn Phú A và Tân Phú
• Phía Tây: giáp phường Bình Thọ và Trường Thọ
• Phía Nam: giáp phường Tăng Nhơn Phú B và Phước Long B
• Phía Bắc: giáp phường Linh Trung quận Thủ Đức

Bản đồ 299/1980/TT-CP của xã Tăng Nhơn Phú – huyện Thủ Đức gồm tờ bản đồ số 3, 4. Đến ngày 14/2/1987 theo quyết đinh số 33-HĐBT (Hội đồng Bộ Trưởng huyện Thủ Đức) chia xã Tăng Nhơn Phú thành 3 xã: lấy tên thành xã Tăng nhơn Phú, xã Hiệp Phú, xã Tân Phú.
Bản đồ 02/1993/UBNDTP của xã Tân Phú – quận Thủ Đức gồm tờ bản đồ số 18, 19, 30, 31.
Theo nghị định số 03/1997/NĐ-CP thành lập quận 9 và được chia thành 13 phường.
