Tết âm lịch cổ truyền của người Hàn Quốc theo tiếng Hàn gọi là Seol thường rơi vào cuối tháng 1 hoặc đầu tháng 2 dương lịch, là đại lễ quan trọng nhất trong năm, còn có tên gọi là Won Dan theo phiên âm tiếng Trung Quốc là Tết Nguyên đán. Cũng như Việt Nam, mặc dù chính thức năm mới và cũng là bắt đầu vào Tết được tính từ thời khắc giao thừa song trên thực tế không khí Tết đã tràn ngập từ những ngày cuối năm âm.
