Tiêu chuẩn về hướng dẫn viên du lịch ở Việt Nam gồm có 4 chữ "N" đó là: nghiệp vụ,ngoại thương, ngoại giao, ngoại hình. Trong 4 chữ "N" đó thì ngoại ngữ là đòi hỏi trước tiên với các hướng dẫn viên quốc tế.
