1.1. Đặt vấn đề
Cá chép là đối tượng thủy sản được nuôi chủ yếu ở châu Âu và châu Á. Cá phân bố rộng trong sông ngòi, ao hồ, ruộng ở hầu hết các tính phía Bắc Việt Nam. Với những đặc tính như sức chống chịu bệnh tật tốt hơn các đối tượng nuôi khác, có giá trị kinh tế cao cũng như thịt thơm ngon, ngoại hình đẹp nên loài cá này được người nuôi và người tiêu dùng ưa thích.
Hiện nay, sản lượng cá chép tự nhiên đã và đang giảm sút hết sức nghiêm trọng do cách thức nuôi trồng và tình trạng nước ao nuôi bị ô nhiễm nên cá thường bị mắc bệnh dẫn tới giảm giá trị thực phẩm của cá. Qua nghiên cứu, người ta chỉ ra rằng bệnh ở cá là do vi khuẩn, virus, nấm... gây nên. Về bệnh do vi khuẩn trên cá chép phải kể đến bệnh nhiễm khuẩn do vi khuẩn Aeromonas sp., đây là vi khuẩn thường gây bệnh cho động vật thủy sản nước ngọt, đặc biệt là gây viêm, xuất huyết và hoại tử trên cá chép.
