Sau năm 1985 lần lượt các hồ chứa trên thượng nguồn các sông Sài Gòn, Đồng Nai và sông Bé đi vào vận hành thì lũ lớn về hạ lưu đã được cắt trong mùa mưa lũ. Cũng vì vậy nhân dân đã lấn sâu vào các vùng thấp thường xuyên bị ngập úng trước đây để canh tác như vậy khi các hồ phải xả lũ, diện tích này hầu như bị thiệt hại hoàn toàn.
