Giai đoạn 1954-1975* Lĩnh vực Bưu điện- Từ năm 1954-1975, ngành Bưu điện đã phục vụ đắc lực cho công cuộc xây dựng và bảo vệ miền Bắc, phục vụ thông tin cho cuộc kháng chiến chống Mỹ ở miền Nam và làm nghĩa vụ quốc tế với cách mạng Lào và Cămpuchia.* Tại miền Bắc- Ngày 8/3/1955, Nha Bưu điện-Vô tuyến điện Việt Nam được đổi tên thành Tổng cục Bưu điện Việt Nam thuộc Bộ Giao thông Bưu điện.- Ngày 13/5/1961 Hội đồng Chính phủ ra Quyết định số 63/CP tách Tổng cục Bưu điện ra khỏi Bộ Giao thông và Bưu điện, đặt thành cơ quan trực thuộc Chính phủ- Ngày 09/2/1962, Hội đồng Chính phủ ra Quyết định số 12/CP giao thêm nhiệm vụ quản lý các cơ sở kỹ thuật truyền thanh, phát thanh và sự nghiệp phát triển truyền thanh, phát thanh sang cho Tổng cục Bưu điện.- Ngày 18/2/1962, Ủy ban Thường vụ Quốc hội ra thông báo về việc đổi tên Tổng cục Bưu điện Việt Nam thành Tổng cục Bưu điện - Truyền thanh Việt Nam.- Ngày 17/6/1965, Hội đồng Chính phủ ra Quyết định số 101/CP thành lập Cục Bưu điện Trung ương thuộc Tổng cục Bưu điện và Truyền thanh.- Ngày 21/12/ 1967 Hội đồng Chính phủ đã ra Nghị định số 219/TTgCN tách phần phát thanh và truyền thanh ra khỏi Tổng Cục Bưu điện.- Ngày 21/1/1968 Hội đồng Chính phủ quyết định đổi tên Tổng cục Bưu điện - Truyền thanh thành Tổng cục Bưu điện.* Tại miền NamBưu điện Nam Trung Bộ- Năm 1965-1968 là thời kỳ mạng thông tin vô tuyến điện phát triển đều khắp miền Trung- Đầu năm 1975, Khu ủy khu V chủ trương thành lập Ban Bưu điện khu V để thống nhất hai lực lượng giao bưu và thông tin trong toàn khu.Bưu điện Nam BộDo nét đặc thù của cuộc kháng chiến chống Mỹ cứu nước ở Nam Bộ, Bưu điện Nam Bộ đặt dưới sự lãnh đạo trực tiếp của Trung ương cục miền Nam, được phân ra hai ngành có quan hệ mật thiết với nhau là: “Giao bưu” và “Thông tin vô tuyến” để dễ chỉ đạo và hoạt động.- Tháng 7/1975, Tổng cục Bưu điện miền Nam được thành lập theo Quyết định số 024/QĐ-75 của Thường vụ Trung ương Cục.- Ngày 19/8/1975, Đảng đoàn Tổng cục Bưu điện chính thức đề nghị Ban Bí thư Trung ương Đảng và Thường vụ Hội đồng Chính phủ cho phép ngành Bưu điện được thống nhất quản lý toàn diện theo ngành dọc trong phạm vi cả nước.
