-Cà chua có dạng hình thân bụi hoặc bò lan xung quanh,phân nhánh mạnh.
-Căn cứ vào đặc điểm sinh trưởng và chiều cao cây có thể phân làm 3 loại:
+Loại lùn: Cây thấp chiều cao cây dưới 65cm, lóng ngắn. Loại này trong sản xuất ít tạo hình,không phải làm giàn.
+Loại cao: Cây cao trên 120cm, thân lá sinh trưởng mạnh. Trong sản xuất cần phải tạo hình,tỉa cành,tỉa hoa, và phải làm giàn.
+Loại trung bình: Cây cao từ 70-110cm,thân lá sinh trưởng mạnh.
-Chiều cao thân thay đổi từ 50-200cm. Số cành trên thân 3-19 cành.
