Xuất phát

Từ Việt Nam, có nhiều cách bay tới Chiang Mai (nơi gần nhất để tới Chiang Rai). Trước đó, bạn sẽ phải quá cảnh ở thủ đô Bangkok. Các hãng hàng không Vietnam Airlines, Thai Air, Vietjet Air, Air Asia, Qatar Airways... đều có các chuyến bay hằng ngày và thuận tiện tới Bangkok, với giá dao động từ 2 triệu đến 4 triệu đồng tùy thời điểm và hãng. Từ Bangkok, bạn nên chọn Air Asia, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air... để bay nội địa, với giá không quá 100 USD. Bạn có thể sử dụng phương tiện ô tô hoặc tàu hỏa, quãng đường di chuyển chừng gần 700 km. Lý tưởng nhất là đi qua đêm.
