Đại hội VI của Đảng Cộng sản Việt Nam khởi xướng công cuộc đổi mới toàn diện cả về đối nội và đối ngoại, đã nêu rõ lập trường quan điểm của Việt Nam đối với vấn đề Campuchia, đồng thời Việt Nam sẽ rút quân tình nguyện khỏi Campuchia và sẵn sàng hợp tác với tất cả các bên để đi tới một giải pháp chính trị đúng đắn về Campuchia.

Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam initiated the comprehensive renovation of both domestic and foreign, have already stated the stance of the views of Vietnam to the Cambodian problem, while Vietnam will withdraw the troops volunteered from Cambodia and is willing to cooperate with all the parties to come to a proper political solution on Cambodia.
