Từ năm 2007, Trung tâm Công nghệ sinh học thành phố Hồ Chí Minh đã tiến hành lai tạo giống lan mới từ bộ sưu tập trên 360 giống lan khác nhau (Mokara, Dendrrobium, Cattleya, Oncidium, Phalaenopsis…). Đến nay, đã có 38 tổ hợp lan lai được tạo ra từ các phép lai cùng loài, khác loài, khác chi. Trong đó, tổ hợp lai BCH 12 được tạo ra từ 2 bố mẹ (D. Burana White x D. Burana Charming) có nguồn gốc từ Thái Lan được đánh giá có triển vọng. Từ tổ hợp lai này đã chọn được 4 dòng (BCH 12-4, BCH 12-10, BCH 12-14, BCH 12-15) có ưu thế lai cao về khả năng sinh trưởng khỏe, hoa đẹp, siêng hoa, cành hoa dài, tuổi thọ hoa kéo dài, phù hợp với nhu cầu sản xuất theo hướng trồng chậu và cắt cành.
