Tại đại hội đồng LHQ, trên danh nghĩa ,tất cả các thành viên đều bình đẳng -mỗi quốc qia một phiếu bầu . Đại hội đồng họp thường kỳ vào tháng 9 hằng năm và có bảy ủy ban chính chuyên trách một loạt các vấn đề . Đại hội đồng có thể thảo luận bất cứ chủ đề nào , song cần phải có đa số 2/3 ủng hộ trước khi một vấn đề quan trọng được thông qua .
