Nâng tổng số dự án đầu tư trực tiếp nước ngoài còn hiệu lực cho đến thời điểm này lên 80 dự án, với tổng vốn đầu tư hơn 4 tỷ USD. Đặc biệt, ngay sau khi kiên quyết thu hồi các dự án không thực hiện đúng cam kết, trong đó có siêu dự án Bãi biển Rồng với tổng vốn đầu tư hơn 4 tỷ USD. Quảng Nam cũng đã thỏa thuận cấp phép cho dự án khu du lịch, nghỉ dưỡng phức hợp Nam Hội An với tổng vốn đăng ký 4 tỉ USD. Nhà đầu tư là Tập đoàn VinaCapital liên doanh với một đối tác nước ngoài khác.

Cùng với việc tăng cường thu hút các dự án có tính khả thi cao, năm 2010 cũng là thời điểm tỉnh tăng cường các biện pháp thúc đẩy các dự án hạ tầng trọng điểm, đẩy mạnh cải cách thủ tục hành chính, tạo điều kiện thuận lợi cho các dự án đầu tư và hoạt động. Trong số 80 dự án hiện đang còn hiệu lực tại Quảng Nam có 14 dự án nằm trong các khu công nghiệp với tổng vốn đầu tư đăng ký 290 triệu USD, 18 dự án nằm trong khu Kinh tế mở Chu Lai với vốn đầu tư đăng ký hơn 200 triệu USD và ngoài hai khu trên, cả tỉnh còn có 47 dự án với tổng vốn đăng ký gần 600 triệu USD. Điều quan trọng là trong những nỗ lực tạo môi trường đầu tư, tăng cường việc thẩm định tính khả thi của các dự án, khoảng cách giữa vốn đăng ký và vốn triển khai ngày càng được thu hẹp; số dự án xí phần, dự án nhà đầu tư thiếu năng lực tài chính cũng dần được loại bỏ; hoạt động thu hút đầu tư ngày càng đi vào thực chất hơn.
