Không được dùng Pentoxifylin cho người bệnh mới bị xuất huyết não hoặc xuất huyết võng mạc, hoặc người bệnh đã biểu lộ trước đây sự không dung nạp đối với pentoxifylin hoặc các dẫn xuất của methylxanthin như cafein, theophylin hoặc theobromin, nhồi máu cơ tim giai đoạn cấp, người bệnh có nguy cơ hoặc đang có xuất huyết lớn.
