Giao thông trong công trình công cộng là một bộ phận rất quan trọng, gắn kết cấu các phòng có chức năng hoạt động khác nhau với nhau theo một trật tự logic nhất định. Không gian giao thông có 3 loại như sau:
+ Giao thông hướng ngang.: hành lang, nhà cầu
+ Giao thông hướng đứng: dốc thoải, cầu thang bộ, thang máy.
+ Đầu mối giao thông: sảnh, sảnh tầng, phòng đi qua.
