Can Gio là huyện duy nhất của thành phố Hồ Chí Minh có rừng ngập mặn với mạng lưới sông, rạch chằng chịt, quanh co rất đặc trưng của vùng sông nước. Rừng ngập mặn Can Gio với hệ động – thực vật phong phú và đa dạng rất phù hợp với việc phát triển du lịch sinh thái. Có tiềm năng là vậy song du lịch sinh thái Can Gio vẫn chưa phát triển tương xứng với những giá trị đặc biệt được thiên nhiên ưu đãi ấy.
Bản thân tôi là một sinh viên ngành du lịch lữ hành, yêu thích du lịch và môi trường tự nhiên nhưng quá bận rộn với việc học và làm nên khi muốn đi du lịch vào dịp cuối tuần thì chẳng biết đi đâu ngoài Vung Tau và tôi nghĩ không chỉ tôi mà rất nhiều người dân sài thành đều như vậy. và điều đó vô tình làm giá cả các sản phẩm du lịch ở Vung Tau càng trở nên đắt đỏ hơn và chất lượng dịch vụ cũng như việc bảo vệ môi trường ở đó càng ngày càng kém đi. Nhưng vào năm 2014 Thủ Tướng Chính Phủ đã phê duyệt quyết định số: 2351/QĐ-TTg, về việc QUY HOẠCH TỔNG THỂ PHÁT TRIỂN DU LỊCH VÙNG ĐÔNG NAM BỘ ĐẾN NĂM 2020, TẦM NHÌN ĐẾN NĂM 2030 trong đó có dự án “Đầu tư và phát triển khu du lịch quốc gia Can Gio” nên tôi tin rằng tương lại không xa Can Gio được khai thác đầu tư và phát triển đúng cách, tôi tin rằng Can Gio sẽ trở thành 1 điểm đến nổi bật và thu hút khách du lịch, và cũng sẽ nâng cao đời sống và kinh tế những người dân nơi đây
