Việt Nam là thành viên thứ 7 của ASEAN. Đặc biệt, Việt Nam là một trong 6 nước có nền kinh tế chủ lực ở ASEAN. Vậy, chúng ta có thể hiểu rằng, trách nhiệm của công dân Việt Nam nói chung và chính phủ nói riêng đối với ASEAN là vô cùng to lớn. Trước hết, là một công dân Việt Nam, chúng ta cần phải nhận thức được trách nhiệm to lớn của bản thân trong việc xây dựng đất nước, để Việt Nam có thể hòa nhập, hợp tác với các nước thành viên để cùng phát triển. Để xây dựng một đất nước giàu mạnh như vậy, thế hệ trẻ chúng ta phải học tập, rèn luyện tích cực. Mỗi công dân cần phải lao động hăng say, luôn học tập những điều mới mẻ, hiện đại để phát triển dất nước. Đặc biệt, chúng ta phải luôn tôn trọng các nguyên tắc cơ bản trong ASEAN, tôn trọng chủ quyền, độc lập, phong tục, văn hóa của các nước thành viên.
