Chỉ có Trung Cộng mới treo lồng đèn đỏ và những năm sau nầy Trung cộng bắt csVN cũng treo Lồng Đèn Đỏ của chúng tại các lễ hội Việt Nam; nhất là trong dịp đón Tết mừng xuân ở Sàigòn hay Hà-Nội. Một cựu quân nhân VNCH nói rằng "Thấy Ban Tổ chức cấm treo Cờ VNCH và tập trung nhiều du học sinh Việt Nam qua để treo toàn Lồng Đèn Đỏ của Tàu cộng nên anh em cựu quân nhân VNCH chúng tôi phản đối và một số bỏ ra về.”
